Located in the heart of Abingdon Virginia’s historic district, at 308 Depot Sq SW, in the historic Train Station, is The Gallery @ Barr Photographics. Abingdon's oldest photography studio and fine art gallery, offering a full line of photographic services, three fine art galleries, a unique gift shop and a custom frame shop, specializing in conservation framing for all your needs.
The Gallery @ Barr Photographics contains three galleries, the Gift Gallery, the Studio Gallery and the Corner Gallery where fine art exhibits, with meet the artist receptions in a rotation of six feature artists per year. Hanging in the Corner and Studio galleries are framed and gallery wrapped original fine art works of watercolor, oil, pastel and acrylics by local, regional, national and international artists.
In the Gift Gallery, the “Art File” features a myriad of unframed fine art originals, as well as, lithographic and giclee prints. Also found in the Gift Gallery are unique gifts of decidedly American Southwest flavor, such as, Navajo pottery, fabric art, silver, gold, and sculptural creations. Gift Gallery exclusives include Carthusia Perfume from the island of Capri in Italy. The Carthusia line of heavenly scents for women and men was established on the island in 1681 by the Carthusian Monks, available exclusively on Capri until June 2004, when The Gallery @ Barr Photographics was chosen as a distributor in the United States. Nicknamed the “Scent of the Stars” because of the A-listers who use it as signature scents Carthusia boasts a level of exclusivity that is rarely seen in today’s retail market. Another gallery exclusive is Cattail Baskets by John Robbins. Cattail Baskets are woven from sun dried rushes of cattail(typha litifolia) and sealed with the finest oils and earth pigments. Whether it be frames, fine art, perfume, jewelry, pottery, photography, or any number of diverse gift lines, there is something for everyone at The Gallery @ Barr Photographics.
